BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A man has been charged with aggravated DUI after a rollover crash killed his 4-year-old son and critically injured his two other young children early Sunday in southwest suburban Bolingbrook.
Shannard M. L. Dyer, 29, of Romeoville was driving with his sons in a 2012 Dodge Journey about 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-55, just west of I-355, when the vehicle struck a median wall and rolled over, police said.
Taylor Dyer, 4, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to Illinois State Police and the Will County Coroner’s office.
The other sons, ages 2 and 7, were listed in critical condition Monday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said.
Shannard Dyer was taken into custody Monday after he was released from Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, authorities said.
He faces a felony charge of aggravated DUI, and was also cited for driving too fast for conditions, state police said.
