Lincoln Park Zoo welcomes baby lemur

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - The Lincoln Park Zoo is now home to a baby crowned lemur!

The lemur was born on April 14 to its parents Tucker and Sokkwi. The new baby has two older brothers, Azizi and Nuru, who also live at the zoo!

The Zoo has yet to determine the gender and size of the baby, as the mother is keeping them very close to her belly.

The lemur is the first birth at the Lincoln Park Zoo for Tucker and Sokkwi.

“Tucker is an experienced mother and the infant is healthy, nursing and growing,” said Curator of Primates Maureen Leahy. “We’re ecstatic to welcome our first crowned lemur infant who we hope will shed light on this threatened species.”

The baby and mother are on exhibit at the Helen Brach Primate House, which is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.
