CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Charlotte River Shishkoff certainly made an early start in life.

The 7-pound, 20-inch baby girl was born at 4:05 a.m. Tuesday when her parents, Elizabeth, 27, and Ray, 26, of Glen Ellyn, were on the way to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital so that Charlotte could be delivered, according to Keith Hartenberger, public information officer for Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare.

Never making it to Hinsdale, the Shishkoffs pulled over on eastbound I-88 near state Route 83, where Charlotte was born in the car, Pioneer Press is reporting.

Illinois State Police and a York Center ambulance responded after a 911 call was received from Ray Shishkoff, who said that his wife was going into labor.

The baby was born in the front passenger seat of a green Ford Focus shortly before the ambulance and police arrived, said Master Sgt. Carlita Joe of the Illinois State Police.

Mother and daughter were taken by ambulance to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, where they are doing fine, Joe said.
