Seven Chicago schools awarded technology grants

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Seven Chicago schools will receive grants of up to $100 thousand to spend on new technology.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the money comes from two foundations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The money will be used to train teachers, provide wireless systems and furnish classrooms.

The following schools will receive grants:
  • Chicago International Charter School's West Belden campus
  • Cesar E. Chavez Multicultural Academic Center
  • Chicago Academy High School
  • John C. Haines Elementary School
  • Wildwood Magnet Elementary School

Two other charter schools, a middle school operated by KIPP and a school operated by Great Lakes Academy, have not yet opened.
