CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 17-year-old boy charged as an adult with the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy in the Woodlawn neighborhood last February has been ordered held on a $1 million bond.

Ahbir Sardin is charged with one count of first-degree murder for shooting the boy in the 6100 block of South Vernon Avenue the night of Feb. 12, according to court records.

Venzel Richardson, 14, was walking with several other males when a van drove past and the teen opened fire from inside the vehicle, police said.

Richardson, of the 6400 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, suffered a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:25 p.m.

No one else was injured in the shooting, which appeared to be gang-related, police said at the time of the shooting.

On Monday, Judge Maria Kuriakos-Ciesil ordered Sardin held on a $1 million bond and set a preliminary hearing for May 19, according to court records.
