CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago police superintendent Garry McCarthy is throwing his support behind Mayor Rahm Emanuel's plan to install air conditioning in all Chicago Public Schools.

The mayor announced Tuesday he wants air conditioning installed in all CPS classrooms over the next five years. The project will cost $100 million.

McCarthy told the Chicago Sun-Times the project is worth the price tag because it will keep teens in cool buildings and help reduce the risk of violence.
