DETROIT (WJBK) - A single mother's Detroit home has been ransacked and vandalized for the second time in a month.

Renica Hunter had recently moved there after saving up money by living in a city shelter and a van with her five children.

The first break-in occurred last month. Her hot water heater and furnace were stolen, and the thieves sprayer graffiti all over the house.

Then, earlier this week while Hunter was out, her house was broken into a second time. Carpeting was cut out; thekitchenn sink and countertops were stolen; electrical wiring was pulled out through the dry wall; and bathroom fixtures and plumbing were ripped out.

Hunter had also just purchased a new front door, which was ripped right out of the frame.

"I know it's hard for them to find a job, to take care of home. But taking from others will get you nowhere but in an early grave. That's not fair. That's not fair to my kids," she says.

Detroit police are investigating.
