Teen gets strange texts trying to recruit her into prostitution

Posted: Updated:
(WJBK) - A local 14-year-old girl was shocked when an unknown number texted her phone, trying to recruit her into an escort service.

The texter addressed the girl by name and said a friend had given out her phone number, but would not say which friend. The texter then told the girl she knew a way she could make about $500 - $1,500 a week.

The girl asked how, and the texter replied, "Ok haha well I'm an escort, I do highend rollers, dinner dates, partys stuff like that. In the [end] of the day most guys want sex. Lol well why just have sex when you can get paid for it. You know girl? I have a lot of clients now so I need some girls I can trust to work with me. Your friend already saw a guy today."

The girl turned down the texter's offer and brought her phone to her mother.

"She came home, we looked at [the texts] together and it was frightening that anybody would send that to anybody, let alone a teenage girl," says the girls mother. The family wishes to remain unidentified.

FOX 2's Ron Savage called the number sending the texts, which went to voicemail. He found the phone number was attached to a Facebook page, which lead him to a fake address in Novi.

The mother has filed a police report with the Novi Police Department.

"My daughter did the right thing; couldn't be happier with her for bringing it to my attention and not engaging too much with this person," says the mother.

Talk to your kids, and let them know if they get a text like this to tell an adult and save the text, then contact authorities.

It's unclear atthise time how the texter knew the name of the girl.
