Most Beautiful Bulldog Crowned In Iowa

Posted: Updated:
Des Moines, IA- Slobbery pooches competed for Iowa's 'Beautiful Bulldog' title on Monday.

50 bulldogs wore their best outfits, dressing as everything from construction workers to princesses.

Drumroll please: this year's winner, Lucey, rocked a simple pink tutu and award-winning smile.

Owner, Tiffany Torstenson, a breast surgeon at the Mercy Katzmann Breast Center says she often takes Lucey to work.

Lucey's demeanor around doctors and patients helped convince her that she'd make a perfect therapy dog, which she starts training to become very soon.

"This contest is awesome, to see all these dogs hanging out, relaxing but Drake relays is just an amazing event to be around to be around all my life," one dog owner said about the annual contest.

Another dog owner expressed pride in the contest.

"The pride in it, just knowing they like our dog the best."

While another praised her dog’s personality.

"Well, Lola has got a great personality, and she's so relaxed and chill and just goes with the flow. And today she is all decked out in her sparkliest outfit, so we will see what the judges think of it."

This year marks the 34th year for the contest.
