Online petition asks prosecutor to re-open Adaisha Miller case

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) - "She went out celebrating birth, life and she was killed," said Yolanda McNair, the mother of Adaisha Miller. "No one wants to take responsibility for that."

McNair says nearly two years after her daughter's death she's still waiting for closure and she'll continue to fight as long as it takes. The family has now posted an online petition asking Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy to re-open Miller's case. Click HERE to read/sign the petition.

Back in February, the prosecutor's office announced there was not enough evidence to charge officer Issac Parrish. His gun somehow went off killing Adaisha during a party at his home in July 2012. The Detroit Police Department has said Miller hugged the officer and the gun went off by accident.

"Why wouldn't they agree that he was negligent?" McNair asked. "I'm not saying that he set out to kill my daughter but he wasn't being a responsible adult either."

McNair says the various stories she's heard about what happened that night do not add up and she's never seen the evidence that led to the prosecutor's decision. The family had to file a Freedom of Information lawsuit to get a few autopsy photos and some documents in the case. Miller's belongings were never returned and they have yet to receive any kind of apology.

"If they're not going to do another investigation find someone who can," McNair said. "Follow up, follow suit. They have dropped the ball."
