Teenage boy hurt in Grand Boulevard neighborhood shooting

A teenage boy was shot and wounded Saturday evening in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood on the South Side.

The 16-year-old boy was in the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue about 6:40 p.m. when someone shot him in his right leg, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said, citing preliminary information.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, Sweeney said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
