CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

CTA Blue Line trains will be sharing a track on a section of the line after an outbound train derailed Thursday night.

The front set of the outbound train's wheels went off the tracks slightly when it hit an automobile tire on the tracks as the train was leaving the Cicero station about 7:45 p.m., CTA spokesman Brian Steele said.

The rest of the wheels remained on the tracks, Steele said.

It's unclear how many passengers were on board, but there were no reports of injuries, a Fire Department spokesman said.

Trains headed in both directions will share a track between the Pulaski and Austin stops, Steele said. Riders should not expect significant delays since trains are now running at longer time intervals, Steele said.

Crews were still working as of 9:20 p.m. to fix the derailed train, which should be running normally by the morning rush, Steele said.
