CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A new law in France makes it illegal for workers in specified areas to receive work related emails after 6 pm.

The law comes as a result of complaints from employees who said that smartphones have allowed bosses to invade workers' lives beyond the normal 35-hour work week.

Employers' federations and unions have signed the new, legally binding labor agreement that will require staff to switch off their phones after 6pm.

Under the new deal, workers will also have to resist the temptation to look at work-related material on their smartphones or computers. Employees affected reach to companies such as the French arms of Google, Facebook, Deloitte and PwC.
