South Side residents warned of recent armed robberies

Chicago Police issued a community alert Sunday warning South Side residents of two recent armed robberies in the New City neighborhood.

Three suspects approach victims, pull out a handgun and demand property, according to the alert from Area Central detectives.

The robberies happened at 11:55 p.m. March 22 in the 800 block of West 49th Place and at 11:15 p.m. March 18 in the 5400 block of South Carpenter Street, police said.

The suspects are generally described as three black men between 20-30 years old, 5-foot-10 and 6-2, and 150-200 pounds, police said.
