DETROIT (WJBK) - Three men have been charged for the brutal beating of a man inside a Detroit party store, but now police are pursuing another clue to bring closure to this crime.

Police now believe some property was stolen from 60-year-old Frederick Joe Belk after he was killed.

Detroit police are looking to talk to a man who they believe clearly witnessed the incident and may have helpful information.

Sgt. Michael Woody says they are hoping "to find out specifically what he saw, what he knows and what he was involved in when he was inside the store. ... We believe that he may have taken some property belonging to our victim. We want to know what he did with that property and what his intention was."

The person of interest appears to be handing off the property in question to another individual in surveillance footage, but police aren't sure at what point the property was obtained.

The person of interest is a black male with braided hair. He is highlighted in the photo.

Police say Belk was in the parking lot of the Grocer Farm Market when he got into some sort of argument and ran inside the store for help.

Police say the group of men from the parking lot grabbed a dolly and started beating him with it. Belk was hit at least four times.

After the assault, the suspects ran away from the business. An emergency crew arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Demarco Broadus, Antoine Thomas and Theodore Tresvant have all been charged with open murder.
