CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Deep in the heart of winter, when the polar vortex was sent temperatures well below zero and the snow barreled into the Chicago area whenever we had relief from the deep freeze, most of us thought this day would never come.

But we made it! It's Opening Day for the Chicago White Sox, and baseball season is finally here. Good Day Chicago's Corey McPherrin and Melody Mendez reported on the festivities live from U.S. Cellular Field Monday morning.

White Sox Director of Community Relations Christine O'Reilly, Vice President of Marketing Brooks Boyer, Sports Service GM Joey Nigro and Southpaw himself joined FOX 32 News to show just what the team has in store for fans at the home opener, and what they can expect to find at the park all season!

Here's what you need to know if you're heading out to Sox park on Monday:

  • First pitch at The Cell against the Minnesota Twins is 3:10 p.m.
  • Gates open two hours before game time at 1:10 p.m.
  • Tailgating for the home opener is extended to three hours before game time.
  • Fans will receive a free magnetic schedule at the gate.

From stars Aaron Rodgers, Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson to up-and-comers Cordarrelle Patterson, Alshon Jeffrey and Eddie Lacy, with standouts like Reggie Bush, Brandon Marshall and Randall Cobb somewhere in between, the NFC North could probably field a Pro Bowl offense all by itself.
