Robbers target pizza delivery driver, driver fires shots

Posted: Updated:
REDFORD, Mich. (WJBK) - A pizza delivery driver is believed to have walked into a trap and delivered pizza to a group of men who was waiting there to rob him.

Saturday night the Jets Pizza in Redford received an order. Employees there say the person placing the order called back right away and said to deliver the pizza to the people outside smoking a cigarette at the side of the house.

The instructions seemed odd to the driver but he proceeded with the delivery.

As he approached he saw three males standing outside. Owners of the Jets Pizza say the driver called them saying the situation didn't look safe.

But, the driver went against his gut and approached the men. That's when one of them pointed a gun at the driver and demanded money.

One of the men was holding on the driver, but the driver was able to get loose and that's when he turned and fired a shot at the men. One of the shots hit one of the men, and the other two ran.

Brothers Michael and Paul Schwartz, co-owners of the restaurant, are considering changing some of their policies when it comes to pizza delivery.

"If something looks suspicious, no matter the amount of the order, don't take the delivery. It's not worth it," says Paul.
