Schaumburg police warn of apartment burglaries

Posted: Updated:
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police in northwest suburban Schaumburg are warning apartment residents of several burglaries in the last month.

At least one burglar enters the main lobby door of the apartment building during the day and looks for an apartment where nobody is home, then attacks the unit's deadbolt with a prying tool, according to an alert from Schaumburg police.

TVs, computers and gaming systems have been stolen, police said.

Neighbors have seen or heard loud noises during the burglaries, but did not call 911. Residents are advised to call 911 to report any suspicious people or noises.

Anyone with information should call police at (847) 348-7055 or email investigations@ci.schaumburg.il.us.
