CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Free Wi-Fi is now available at two parks on the city's West and South sides.

The free wireless service is now available at Garfield Park at 100 N. Central Park Ave.; and the South Shore Cultural Center at 7059 S. South Shore Dr., through a partnership between the city and Google, according to a statement from the Mayor's office.

The initiative is part of the Broadband Challenge, in which Mayor Emanuel seeks to create a gigabit speed fiber network in targeted areas, increase Internet access in underserved areas, and establish free wireless service in public spaces.

The Internet access at Garfield Park will extend to the tennis court, artificial turf area, and the Garfield Park Conservatory. Wireless at the South Shore Cultural Center will include the main building and beach house area.
