Atlanta Police have arrested 28-year-old Corey Jones for the shooting death of 25-year-old Tyana Boyd on the shoulder of Interstate 20 Monday afternoon.
The incident closed several lanes of traffic during rush hour. The incident happened close to the I-285 and Martin Luther King Jr. exits.
When police arrived on the scene, they noticed Boyd had been shot in her mid-section. She was transported to Grady Memorial, where she later died.
Police detained Jones, who was Boyd's passenger, at the time of the accident and questioned him for a number of hours before arresting and charging him withe Felon Murder and Aggravated Assault.
Police say that the shooting does not appear to be a case of "road-rage." No motive has been established, at this time.
