CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

At least two buildings lost power Sunday afternoon on the Near North Side when a ComEd vault caught fire.

A ComEd vault located at 53 E. Schiller St. caught fire about 1:30 p.m., said ComEd spokeswoman Allana Johnson.

As a result, at least two buildings in the 1300 block of North Lake Shore Drive lost power, Fire Media Affairs chief Larry Langford said.

Langford confirmed people were stuck in elevators from the buildings that lost power but did not know how many. Firefighters were working to get them out as of 2:15 p.m., he said.

ComEd was also at the scene assessing how many people lost power, Johnson said. It was not yet known how the fire started, both she and Langford said.

No one was injured in the incident.
