CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

San Jose Sharks fan Sam Tageson, 17, recently got the chance to live a lifelong dream of his. He got to be a Shark for one day. Judging by his moving reaction to hearing his name, just one day was enough.

Tageson has a life-threatening heart condition. But he doesn't let it stop him from living his life, skateboarding, playing hockey and accepting the risks that come with being a normal teenage boy.

The Sharks, in partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, signed Sam to a one-day contract.

Sam got to go through the pre-game skate with the team, stand on the ice for the national anthem and pass through the giant shark at the beginning of the game – even though he isn't an active player. That's a first in NHL history.

When the announcers recognized Sam for the entire crowd to hear, he was overwhelmed with emotion and gave a tearful wave. The crowd gave him a standing ovation.

Sam says the night was a once in a lifetime experience he will never forget.
