Dita Von Teese and the new form of burlesque

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Burlesque, which was at its prime in the 1930s and 1940s, is making a resurgence.

The new breed of entertainers (still scantily clad) have a huge fan base made of women, says burlesque queen Dita Von Teese.

"It's like a new form of feminist women. There is a lot of diversity and the art of creation of glamour and beauty which is not based on natural beauty it's about creating glamour," said Von Teese.

From the age of 15-24, Von Teese worked in a lingerie store which sparked her interest in creating pinups and shows.

She's gone on to create a line of lingerie available at Bloomingdale's.

"I like the modern twist on retro style. It's about playing dress up," said Von Teese.

She'll be meeting fans at the Bloomingdale's at 59th Street on March 20 at 6 p.m.

Fruit packaged by the Wawona Packing Company out of Cutler, California and sold at stores across the country is being voluntarily recalled. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says there is a possibility the recalled products may be contaminated with listeria. No illnesses have been linked to the recall. Certain lots of peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots sold at Trader Joe's, Costco, Sam's Club and Fresh Direct could be contaminated with the dangerous food-borne pathogen.
