Police warn of armed robberies in Washington Park

Chicago Police issued an alert Wednesday warning South Side Washington Park residents of two recent armed robberies.

At least one robber approaches someone attending to a broken-down vehicle on the side of the road and asks if they can help before pulling out a silver or chrome handgun and demanding property, according to the alert from Area Central detectives.

The robberies happened about 8:25 p.m. March 12 in the 5300 block of South Wabash Avenue; and about 12:35 a.m. March 13 in the 100 block of West Garfield Boulevard, police said.

One of the suspects is described as a black man 20-30 years old, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11 and 140-150 pounds. The other suspect is described as a black man 35-40, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 and 230 pounds.
