Quinton Pippen is a lot of things. He's a star basketball player for Chicago State University, team leader in scoring, assists and steals, and nephew of Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen.
But let's get something straight. Quinton is not his uncle, and he doesn't want to be.
As a basketball player, growing up with the last name Pippen is bound to have its perks. But Quinton told Good Day Chicago that for every peak, there is a valley. It's hard to escape the valley of expectations.
But it doesn't change the fact that the end isn't just near for Quinton – it's here. Having just wrapped his senior season, he has played his final game on CSU's court.
Quinton said there may be plans for another. He hopes opportunity leads to a red and black jersey.
So as he Pippen takes his final steps for CSU, Quinton Pippen is still a lot of things: player, winner, leader. The name "Pippen" may go a long way on a basketball court in Chicago. But he doesn't need to be his uncle.
When you're looking for a bright future, the first move is to step out of the shadows.
FOX 32 News will definitely be keeping an eye on Quinton's future, and keep you updated if there are any new developments.
