ELMHURST, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man robbed a bank in west suburban Elmhurst Monday afternoon.

The man robbed the FirstMerit Bank branch at 700 W. North Ave. in Elmhurst about 1:15 p.m., FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said.

The man implied he had a weapon but did not show one, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth said.

He is described as a white man about 40 years old, wearing a tan jacket, black sunglasses, blue jeans and a baseball cap, Hyde said. His hair was either gray in color or shaved.

Anyone with information on the robbery should contact Elmhurst police or the Chicago office of the FBI.
