SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A state lawmaker whose home and office were the targets of federal search warrants last week is resigning.

Rep. Keith Farnham, a Democrat from Elgin, announced Wednesday that he is quitting his post because of unspecified health issues.

He did not mention the search warrants executed March 13 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.

Farnham did not respond to a message left Wednesday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement said no arrests have been made.

Farnham was elected to the Illinois House in 2008. His statement said he has "been battling serious health issues for a number of years" that now require full attention.

The resignation takes effect immediately and he will remove his name from the November ballot.
