House surrounded by DeKalb SWAT catches fire

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

A house surrounded by a DeKalb County SWAT team with an armed man inside caught fire Friday morning after police took the man into custody.

The DeKalb County Police Department arrested Christopher Maurice Brown, 45, on multiple charges after a standoff a home located in the 5600 block of Regency Manor Court in the Regency Woods subdivision.

Police say they were called out to the scene just after 6 a.m. Thursday after reports of someone being held against their will at the home. The SWAT team was called in and surrounded the house.

The man was taken into custody, but not before setting the house on fire. Fire crews got to work on the fire once the scene was secured by police.

Brown is being charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Assault, 3 counts of False Imprisonment, Battery and 1st degree Arson. He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail.

The Red Cross tells FOX 5 News that four people were displaced from the home as a result of the fire.

One person was injured during the fire. They were transported to an area hospital.
