A student in the Van Buren School District wore a sweatshirt to school remembering an eighth grader who died by suicide in February of 2012.

The front of the shirt reads "Noah's Angels", and the back of the shirt has a message to raise awareness about suicide.

The back of the sweatshirt reads:

"Suicide is NOT
- Selfish
- Cowardly
- The easy way out

Be part of raising awareness and get rid of the stigma!"

The student at Belleville High School was told to put tape over the words about suicide or put on a different shirt. The girl, a sophomore, was a friend of Noah's.

Noah's mother, Kelly Miller, says she still hasn't gotten a clear answer as to why the girl was asked to cover up the back of the shirt. One school board member emailed Kelly back, only referring her to the school's policy, something Kelly still has not been privy to.

Kelly says, like Noah, more kids suffer from depression that parents and teachers realize. Kelly continues to share her son's story hoping to raise awareness about depression and suicide. Kelly also recently helped organize the Out of the Darkness Walk.

FOX 2 contacted the school district and spoke to the superintendent's secretary, who said she was aware of the situation and would pass the message along to the superintendent.
