Bears sign Giants safety Ryan Mundy

 LAKEFOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with S Ryan Mundy ona two-year contract.

       The 6-1, 209-pound Mundy has started 14 of 80 games played over five seasonswith Pittsburgh (2009-12) and the New York Giants (2013), collecting 143tackles, two interceptions, 10 pass break-ups, three fumble recoveries, fivetackles for losses and one sack. He has added 64 special teams tackles whichare tied for third in the NFL since he joined the league in 2009.

       In 2013, Mundy set career highs in games started (nine), tackles (70) andtackles for losses (four) while adding an interception – which he returned 91yards – two pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery. He also had seven specialteams stops.

       He has appeared in four postseason contests, starting one, gathering fourtackles and two forced fumbles.

       Mundy has appeared in all 16 games in each of his first five NFL seasons afterentering the league as a sixth round selection (194th overall) byPittsburgh in 2008 out of West Virginia.
