CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago is ready to invade Austin, Texas at South by Southwest.

"That show is guaranteed to be a great one for us. When you're on the road there's no guarantees that you're going to be playing to a full room, and I feel like that one is definitely going to be a really good time," said Archie Powell.

Archie Powell & The Exports are one of 15 emerging Chicago artists performing at the interactive festival that attracts the best in music, film and technology.

"So that's the place to be seen and play for people," said Powell.

On Monday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel will join the city's first ever South by Southwest delegation, including 1871's Howard Tullman and Chance the Rapper.

"You're talking to a person who loves music… Our music event is the most subscribed event now down in Austin," said Mayor Emanuel in an interview with FOX 32's Tisha Lewis.

The goal is to promote the city of the big shoulders to the world's big spenders, and to reel in investment dollars and create more jobs.

"The strength of our city is the diversity of our economy. Tourism and convention doesn't drive but 10 percent of our employment. Tech, medical, no one [single] sector drives more than 13 percent, unlike financial for New York or entertainment for LA," said Mayor Emanuel.

"Our efforts in participating in this conference will help up the cool factor for Chicago. We know that we're a hip, dynamic place but it's time to come and have a little bragging rights," said Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Commissioner Michelle T. Boone.
