BANNOCKBURN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A student and football player at Trinity International University was found dead in his north suburban dormitory on Tuesday.

Eli J. Kerr, 20, of Boca Raton, Fla., was found dead a few minutes before 6 p.m. in his dorm on the university's Bannockburn campus, according to Bannockburn police and the Lake County Coroner's office.

An autopsy Wednesday was inconclusive pending further testing, according to Lake County Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd. He said further tests are being conducted to check for possible drugs in the body, legal or otherwise.

According to the university's website, Kerr was a music major who also played football.

"The Trinity community was shocked and saddened by the passing of one of our own," interim university president Neil Nyberg said in a statement.

"We are walking alongside the family during this heartbreaking time and supporting each other through prayer for God's peace amidst our sorrow," Nyberg said.

Bannockburn police said foul play is not suspected, but Kerr's death remains under investigation.
