AURORA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 56-year-old woman died Thursday morning after she was hit by a car in west suburban Aurora.

Frances E. Kuntz was walking northbound in the street on Randall Road just south of Sullivan Road about 4:15 a.m. when she was hit by a northbound 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by a 65-year-old woman, city spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in a statement.

Kuntz, whose last known address was in the 1800 block of Lilac Lane, was taken to a west suburban hospital where she died during surgery, Ferrelli said, adding she suffered "massive injuries" as a result of the crash.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday at the Kane County Coroner's office.

Ferrelli said it didn't appear that drugs or alcohol were involved, and no tickets had been issued as of Friday morning, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Randall Road between Sullivan and Indian Trail roads was closed for about three hours.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should call investigators at (630) 256-5330.
