Fans turn out for Elmore Leonard's estate sale

Posted: Updated:

BLOOMFIELD TWP., Mich. (WJBK) -- Items belonging to famed author Elmore Leonard are up for sale this week.

An estate sale is happening at Leonard's Bloomfield Twp. home until 4 p.m. Thursday; from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Leonard's house at 2192 Yarmouth.

"We wanted to share him with everyone," said Bill Leonard, Elmore's son. "Plus, there was just so much stuff, there was nothing else to do but have an estate sale. We knew his fans would love to come."

Leonard died in August after suffering an earlier stroke. He was called the 'Dickens of Detroit' and published popular works such as three "3:10 to Yuma" and "Glitz."

The estate sale includes first edition and signed book, furniture and other items.
