A north suburban man is $250,000 richer after buying a winning Hit or Miss ticket in February.

Patrick Maki, who bought his ticket at Sam's Mobil at 2200 E. Grand Ave. in Lindenhurst, could barely stay upright when he checked his numbers — 01 – 02 – 03 – 05 – 08 – 10 – 11 – 14 – 18 – 19 – 20 – 21 – (05) — and discovered he'd won in the Feb. 18 6:30 p.m. Hit or Miss drawing.

"When I saw that I matched all 12 numbers, my heart started racing and I actually got dizzy!" he said, according to a release from the Illinois Lottery.

He plans to use the funds to pay off student loans. Though he's currently unemployed, Maki received a degree from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.

"I financed my entire education and had no idea my student loans would be so high after college. Because of this lottery win I can pay them off completely!"

The store received a bonus of $2,500, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
