CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Tuesday is Paczki Day! Many local bakeries are crowded with people seeking pastries to indulge on this Fat Tuesday. The Polish tradition is a delicious one that Chicagoans love to celebrate.

Bridgeport Bakery on the South Side has seen lines of customers since midnight, hoping to get their hands on the crème and fruit-filled treats.

Many of the loyal customers FOX 32 news spoke with Tuesday morning have gotten their Paczki from this bakery for years. The quality is just that good!

The tradition stems from the Catholic practice of indulging in your favorite, most decadent things before the season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. The time of fasting and restraint prepares Catholics for Easter, a holiday celebrating renewal.
