DETROIT (WJBK) -

Police say a 24-year-old security guard has been fatally shot while trying to stop a carjacking in a pharmacy parking lot.

The incident happened Wednesday evening at the CVS store on Schaefer Highway near West McNichols Road.

FOX 2's Taryn Asher says the victim has been identified as Courtney Meeks.

The vehicle involved in the carjacking has been recovered near the Lodge Freeway and West Outer Drive.

Police are still looking for a suspect. Multiple suspects may be involved.

A woman in her 30s was the victim of the carjacking. FOX 2's Ron Savage reports she went inside the store after the carjacking, and the armed security guard went outside to engage the suspect.

The Detroit Police Department is hosting a seminar tonight on carjacking prevention and awareness training.

The free event will be from 6 - 8 p.m. at the North Rosedale Community House on Scarsdale Street.
