DETROIT (WJBK) -- Photos sent to FOX 2 show an emaciated dog sitting on the roof of an abandoned home on the city's east side.

FOX 2's Amy Lange went to the home near Coleman A. Young International Airport Wednesday and reports the dog named Roxy was freezing, starving and barely surviving.

Members of Detroit Dog Rescue were called to the scene and were able to feed Roxy and get her comfortable before taking her away.

Turns out, DDR had been to this house over the summer. The dog was being cared for back then, but obviously not now.

"The owner lives next door. This is basically an abandoned home that he's turned into a dog house for his dog," says Dante Dasaro of DDR.

Art, a neighbor, says the dog belongs to a friend who dropped the dog off, and that he's been trying to look after her. He told the rescue group the dog's name was Roxy, and agreed to let DDR take her into their care.

The city of Detroit says workers and retirees have approved pension cuts, a crucial step to emerging from the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. The city reported results Monday after two months of balloting ended July 11. A judge still must hold a trial to determine if Detroit's overall bankruptcy plan is fair and feasible, but support from retirees is vital.
