CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man charged with stealing a rare guitar from the baggage claim at O'Hare International Airport was ordered held on $250,000 bond Wednesday.

Anthony Hargrove, 59, of the 1500 block of West Garfield Boulevard, was charged with four counts of felony theft for stealing an Indian Mohan Veena guitar and three other bags from the baggage carousel between Feb. 21 and Feb. 24, police said.

Judge James Brown ordered him held on $250,000 bond at a hearing Wednesday, Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton said.

At 10:47 a.m. on Feb. 21, a man was at the baggage carousel in the airport's terminal two waiting for his guitar. He saw the case that held the guitar, turned away briefly and then noticed it was gone, police said.

After he reported it missing, police reviewed security video and saw a man quickly walking with the guitar case toward the entrance to the CTA's Blue Line O'Hare station, police said. Officers believed he would come back and began to observe the immediate area.

About 1 p.m. on Feb. 24, a plain-clothes officer saw a man matching the suspect's description take three more bags from the carousel that "did not belong to him," police said. Authorities determined it was the same man who took the guitar on Feb. 21.

Hargrove will next appear in court March 4 at Branch 50, 5555 W. Grand Ave., Simonton said.
