Police: Burglary attempt on NW Side

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are cautioning residents of Norwood Park after at least three people tried to burglarize a home in the Northwest Side neighborhood Friday night.

About 9:20 p.m., at least one man forced open the front door of a home in the 6400 block of North New England Avenue. The residents — who were home at the time — heard a loud noise and "confronted" one of the men, who then fled in a dark-colored SUV, according to an alert from Area North detectives.

One of the three people was described as a black man, between and 20 and 35 years old, standing between 5-foot-8 and 6-feet and weighing 150 to 160 pounds, police said. The other two people were males, but no other description of them was immediately provided.

Anyone with information on the burglary attempt is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
