Fire sends Austin Berry to Philadelphia to make cap room

 CHICAGO (February 24, 2014)– TheChicago Fire Soccer Club announced Monday that the club has acquired allocationmoney from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for defender Austin Berry. PerMLS and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Thismove was necessary in order to get to cap compliant by March 1," said ChicagoFire Head Coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop. "We thank Austin for hisservice to the club over the past two years and wish him the best as he takesthe next steps of his career."

ACincinnati, Ohio native, Berry was selected by the Fire in the 2012 MLSSuperDraft after a collegiate career at the University of Louisville. Berry made his professional debut against ChivasUSA on May 4, 2012 and made a total of 62 appearances for the Men in Red.
