MDOT: Pothole plans on hold until funding is revealed

Posted: Updated:
(WJBK) -

Potholes across all of metro Detroit continue to endanger motorists' commutes, continually snagging tires and rims.  A Dearborn woman with a 40-mile commute has fixed three flat tires in recent weeks.

A spokesperson for MDOT says no real plan of action can be made until they learn what type of funding they will have.

"Unfortunately, it is going to be this kind of thing going on for many months now until we get some real extra funding from the legislature," says Diane Cross.

Last week the Senate approved a $100 million plan to repair roads. The bill goes to House this week.

Until that gets sorted out, MDOT says it will only be fixing emergencies and major hazards.

"There's a plan once we know what kind of money we're going to get," says Cross.
