ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Handicap parking spots are supposed to be accessible but they were buried under massive snow piles at the Allen Park Post Office.

Snow was piled so high in all four handicap spots you could only see the parking signs sticking out.

That's a violation of federal law under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

One local woman who recently had knee surgery had a tough time navigating the snow and ice.

FOX 2 contacted the postmaster general's office. They got someone to come out and move the snow.

They also offered an apology, saying they never intended to inconvenience their customers. They say the snow plowing is contracted out to a private company and believe it was an honest mistake.
