CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A child was rescued after falling into a 10 ft. hole in the median that runs along Ogden Ave. between Central Park and Drake on Thursday evening.

The child was taken to the hospital, but no details were released as to his or her condition.

Chicago police placed a garbage can in the hole to prevent anyone else from falling in.

Chicago Fire Dept. spokesman Larry Langford said the hole, which was originally reported to be a "sinkhole," was really more of a "washout."

Traffic was not affected by this incident.
