Smoke in Blue Line tunnel causes brief delay

Smoke was reported in the CTA's Blue Line tunnel near the Grand Avenue station during Monday's evening rush hour, leading to a short delay.

The smoke was reported under a train car about 6 p.m., authorities said. Trains were delayed about eight minutes while fire crews investigated. The delay lasted about eight minutes.

Passengers were let off and the train was taken out of service, according to a CTA spokeswoman.

Firefighters called the incident a "false alarm" and reported there was no fire, according fire media affairs.
