CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Nearly three years after they were charged with sexually assaulting a woman while on duty, two former Chicago Police officers were sentenced two years probation after pleading guilty to official misconduct late last month.

Paul Clavijo and Juan Vasquez, both 41, were charged with criminal sexual assault and official misconduct for the March 2011 assault of a 22-year-old woman, court records show. Vasquez resigned from his position as a police officer in 2012, a spokesperson from the Chicago Police Department said. Clavijo resigned in 2011.

On Jan. 22, both men pleaded guilty to a single felony count of official misconduct involving battery, according to court records.

The men did not admit to any sexual offenses, and they will not serve any jail time.

A spokeswoman with the Cook County State's Attorney's office could not be immediately reached for comment Saturday.

In the incident in question, the officers were in uniform when they offered the woman a ride home while in the Wrigleyville neighborhood, prosecutors said at the time.

The woman, who had been drinking, tried to get into the back seat of the marked squad car, but Clavijo put her on his lap in the front seat, where he sexually assaulted her while Vasquez went into a liquor store, prosecutors said.

The victim "believed she could not say no to Clavijo 's sexual advances and had to do whatever the police officer asked," authorities said.

At the victim's Rogers Park home, the woman drank and played strip poker with the officers, who then sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said.

Clavijo was also accused in a separate incident that same month, in which he and Vasquez allegedly picked up a 26-year-old woman at a bus stop near Clark Street and Sheffield Avenue.

They drove her home and while Vasquez was in the bathroom, Clavijo pushed the woman onto her bed and "performed a sex act on her," prosecutors said.

Authorities said the woman objected, and the officers left — but she did not immediately report the crime because she was intimidated.

Vasquez was not charged in that incident.
