WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Four north suburban men who unsuccessfully tried to rob a pizza parlor employee twice, then failed to rob a second victim but shot up a house in the process, are behind bars Tuesday.

A man who works for a Waukegan pizza parlor said he was attempting to drop the night's bank deposit bag off at a bank in the 1800 block of Belvidere Road on Feb. 4 when he was approached by a group of men who tried to rob him at gunpoint, according to Waukegan police.

The man, who was still in his car at the time, was able to drive away from the suspects after they demanded the cash, a statement from police said.

He called police, saying he believed it was the same men who had tried to rob him at gunpoint two nights earlier as he tried to drop the cash bag off at the same bank, according to police.

After the first man drove away from the suspects in the late evening hours of Feb. 4, they approached a second potential victim, who was also in his car when the men demanded money at gunpoint, according to police.

The second intended victim also drove away from the men, but one of them, allegedly DeShawn Boyd, fire at least two shots at vehicle, though neither the driver nor the car was hit, police said.

Two houses in the area were hit by gunshots, but there was only minor damage and no one inside the homes was injured, police said.

The four suspects then drove away, but a Waukegan police officer spotted their vehicle in the 2400 block of Dugdale Road shortly after the second incident, police said.

The car was pulled over and all four suspects were arrested. Police also found a handgun and two BB guns in the vehicle.

Boyd, 19, of the 200 block of Station Park Circle in Grayslake, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and attempted armed robbery for the Feb. 2 incident, and attempted armed robbery (2 counts), unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm for the Feb. 4 incidents, police said. He is being held in the Lake County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Also charged in both incidents was Quentin Johnson, 21, of the 2400 block of Dugdale Road in Waukegan, police said. He faces charges of attempted armed robbery (2 counts), and attempted aggravated robbery and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Also charged in the Feb. 4 incident were Devonte Henry, 21, of the 2400 block of Dugdale Road in Waukegan; and Steven Nowell, 23, of the 400 block of Windridge in Round Lake Park. Both are charged with attempted armed robbery and attempted aggravated robbery, and are being held on $100,000 bonds.

Johnson is scheduled to be back in court in Waukegan on Feb. 13, while Henry, Boyd and Nowell are next due on Feb. 27.
