(WJBK) -

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MICHIGAN  --  In response to an emergency motion by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, a district judge increased the bond Tuesday on Donna Scrivo to $250,000 cash.

Scrivo was arraigned Monday on mutilation and dismemberment charges, which carries a possible 10-year prison sentence. She was also arraigned on a charge of removing a deceased person from a premise, which carries a possible 1-year prison sentence.

Scrivo, 59, remains in custody.  The district judge initially set bond at $100,000.

The judge ruled Tuesday that Scrivo had not been truthful to the court during her arraignment, when she represented financial indigence and requested court-appointed counsel.  It was disclosed during today's hearing that Scrivo owns a home in St. Clair Shores valued at approximately $150,000, received two insurance payments this past summer totaling $175,000, owns a 2012 Ford Escape valued at $19,000, and withdrew $8100 from her bank four days prior to her arrest.

On Saturday, Scrivo was rushed to a local hospital from the Macomb County Jail when she complained of pain and talked about hurting herself.  She is currently housed in the mental health ward of the jail.

"The people need a very high bond in this case," said Macomb Prosecutor Eric Smith.  "This defendant represents an obvious danger to the community and to herself, and is a significant flight risk."

Scrivo was referred to the Forensic Center today for evaluations on competency and criminal responsibility.  All scheduled court dates regarding this case are suspended pending the receipt of those evaluations by the court.
