Aurora man charged with spitting on cop during DUI arrest

MONTGOMERY, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

An Aurora man is charged with spitting in a police officer's face after hitting a car while driving while intoxicated in west suburban Montgomery.

Alberto Chavez, 22, allegedly fled after hitting the parked car near Crown Drive and Kimberly Lane in Montgomery about 4:05 a.m. on Friday, police said in a release.

Police located him a short distance away and arrested him, the release said. During the arrest he allegedly spit in a Montgomery police officer's face.

Chavez, of the 1400 block of Indiana Avenue in Aurora, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and felony aggravated DUI, police said.

Chavez is behind held in the Kane County Jail on $10,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office.
