2 killed on I-94 in Allen Park

Michigan State Police are investigating a crash that occurred on westbound I-94 near Pelham Road around 3:50 a.m. Sunday morning.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2002 Nissan traveling westbound lost control of the vehicle exiting the freeway and striking the guardrail end broadside. Both the driver and a front seat passenger were pronounced dead on the scene. A back seat passenger was transported to Oakwood Hospital.

Alcohol involvement is unknown. The roadway was clear and dry at the time of the crash. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. No names are being released until next of kin have been notified.

1 killed in two-car accident in Monroe

The Monroe Police Department is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred in the area of E. Grove and N. Monroe St. around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Initial investigation indicates that a vehicle traveling westbound on E. Grove struck another vehicle in the roadway and came to rest at the west curb of N. Monroe St. Police say a medical issue may have contributed to the crash.

The name of the sole victim is being withheld pending further investigation. The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should contact the Monroe Police Department at 734-243-7500.
